Loyalty Learnings #4: Key Questions to Ask for Consistent Leadership

One of the areas where we find inconsistency in the chapter experience is having consistently high quality leaders. In some instances, you just have natural turnover of leadership.  They move through the ranks and they’re not longer interested in being involved.  But some of that might be you at the national level poaching those great leaders from your local chapter and promoting them to a regional or a national position.

Now, there are three questions that you should be asking yourself about how to maintain that high quality leadership at the chapter level.

Number one, how are you recruiting new leaders? Are you relying on your current leadership to find peers that might be good fits or are you having to beg, scratch, and claw to find new leaders to fill those positions?

Number two, do you have a process in place at the national level to teach or train new leaders when they come into that position at the local level?

And number three, do you have a succession plan in place at the national level?  Can you be helping these local chapters develop a plan for either that natural attrition that occurs or maybe something unexpected?  Making sure you have the right people in the right positions to step in when needed.

These are the questions you can be asking to maintain consistency in your high quality leadership.
